MUNTHER DESIGN | 12580 HALL SHOP ROAD, FULTON MD 20759 | 240.601.7160 | Info@muntherdesign.com

Lena Muntherreceived her degree from the Chelsea School of Art and Design in London in 1984. She secured an Interior Architect position with Platou Architects in Norway and for six years specialized in Cruise Ship design. During this time she oversaw construction and installation on cruise ships at shipyards around the world. This phase of her career reached its peak in 1990 when she spearheaded construction of an 80m (263 ft.) custom private yacht in Hamburg, Germany.

Lena founded Munther Design in Oslo, Norway in 1991. The new firm focused on large scale commercial projects and she quickly developed a strong sense for the need of branding.  Her clients included Levi Strauss, McCann-Erickson and the Norwegian Military Services - each depending on her vision and her understanding of their specific brands and trademarks. Lena developed a concept for Levi Strauss Headquarters and Levi’s Store which was then implemented in all major cities in Sweden, Norway and Finland during the early 1990’s.

After re-locating to the US, Lena re-established Munther Design and re-ignited her passion for design. Once again, she quickly created a niche for herself by creating designs that are unique to each client. Her projects have run the gamut from a state of the art veterinary hospital, VOSM, which garnered her an award; to a restaurant and wine bar; to the nation’s first large format, ultra-high fidelity salon and spa, FX Studios. She has also designed beautiful residential projects including a large wine cellar and custom kitchen for the owners of Axios and Worthy Wines, and a custom 11,500 sf home from Concept to Completion.

Today, Lena and her team focus Munther Design on creating effective and unique design solutions that meet budgetary and aesthetic needs with quality that will stand the test of time.
